Week 11 Part A: Marketing with Twitter, TikTok, and Google

 In the following post, I will be addressing how TikTok social platform can serve us, as business owners, to grow our audience and generate profits. 


    It is evident that since COVID-19 sticked our society, the way in which we communicate, shop, and do business has significantly changed. More and more businesses have been relaying on e-shop stores and virtual marketing experiences. However, we should also consider the struggle that new companies faced during this challenging time. For a new market to grow, it was a necessity to expose itself in the social media realm, because of the health situation, “In times of isolation and online interaction, brands have shown increased reliance on social media to communicate with large communities” (https://eloncdn.blob.core.windows.net/eu3/sites/153/2021/12/01-Brennan.pdf Abstract, Paragraph #1) This quote shows how brands found a way to maintain their business’ operation by utilizing social media, which in this case is TikTok. 

    TikTok ranks on one of the most popular social media platforms in the whole world. The design is aimed to promote a lockdown viewing streak in which engages the viewer with highly entertaining shorts. This shows how much traffic TikTok receives and how popular has become during the past years, making it a prime platform for businesses. 

    Marketing with TikTok can be very beneficial because of its huge growth as a social platform. The way in which TikTok has expanded is quite impressive, without mentioning the amount of young audience which supports. The quick pace of TikTok keeps individuals entertained and promotes a plethora of products, services, or entertaining videos in a very short span of time. “Its fast paces nature keeps users engaged for relatively long periods of time, with users spending an average of 52 minutes per day on the app” (https://digitalmarketinginstitute.com/blog/an-in-depth-look-at-marketing-on-tiktok How Popular is TikTok, Paragraph #4). This reveals how TikTok is a highly engaging platform which should be used by businesses who are looking for maximum growth. 

    Another advantage that TikTok offers is the possibility of expanding via influencer. This is a process in which a company can find a TikTok user with many many followers. We are putting into perspective the millions. After finding such individuals, companies can make a payment offer in order for the artist to post a video displaying a product or service. Thus, this sort of publicity reaches thousands if not millions of individuals in less than a day. “Depending on a creator’s audience size, type of video, and engagement rates, brands can pay anywhere from $200 to $20,000 per branded video” (https://www.tribegroup.co/blog/become-tiktok-influencer What is a TikTok Influencer, Paragraph #2).  This quote gives away the value of influencers and how much profit it can give back if companies are willing to pay such amounts. 

    In conclusion, I can personally say that TikTok is a social platform which should be exploited by any business who is looking to grow and generate large volumes of profits. However, as it is expected, getting out there is the first step, and being noticed is the second and most hard part. After that, the business starts picking up and revenue is witnessed. I currently find myself in the getting noticed part, and I will not lie, it is very discouraging to keep posting and only receiving one or two views. Nevertheless, I must not stop, for if I do that, my business will die, like many others who find themselves in this process.

  1. 60% of the things I buy online is from an influencer on TikTok. I feel like the content on TikTok is entertaining and relatable. An influencer getting paid to promote a business, I'd consider switching careers to be one. Haha

    1. I agree with your idea that TikTok can be very beneficial. Lately, TikTok is one of the biggest apps. Therefore, some people can be famous, then they might advertise a business by posting a video. I figured out that this could be profitable for our business and individual.

  2. Hey Max :) Loved reading your post. TikTok is the platform I know the least about so it was really interesting to learn more about its benefits. It really has expanded like crazy, and it makes sense that COVID shutdowns was the catalyst that made it grow.
